The German manufacturer Opel has revealed its all-new, sixth generation of the Astra, marking the beginning of a new era under Stellantis group, the world’s fourth-largest car manufacturer. This generation of Opel Astra will bring us a car that would be very different from what we have seen for the past 30 years. The all-new Opel Astra features a sharp new design with a much cleaner and less ornated appearance compared to its French cousin Peugeot 308. Opel has renewed Astra completely by leaping into key aspects such as electric propulsion and technology. What’s New for the Opel Astra 2022 ?
Opel Astra 2022 offers a bold and pure design characterized by straight lines adding a lot of personality to the front and rear of the car. The overall design of this vehicle accentuates the dynamics and sporty look of Astra. With the new compact class generation, Astra 2022 is a new design statement for the brand with a new brand face – the Opel Vizor. This new model of Astra is only 4.0 mm longer than its predecessor, with a spacious boot having a luggage volume of 422 liters. The Vizor also features the all-new Led headlamp with 168 individual LEDs giving a glare-free experience.
This new variant of Astra 2022 incorporates the latest technology of automated driver assistance systems. It does not only have a multifunction windscreen camera, but it also comprises four cameras (one at the front, one at the rear, and one on each side) along with five radar sensors. These sensors and cameras enable the system to give speed recommendations and perform semi-automatic lane changes. Hands-off detection on the steering wheel keeps the driver engaged all time.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Astra 2022 will be the first car ever in the history of Opel to feature a powerful plug-in hybrid electric drive system, and not only that, but it also comes with highly efficient petrol and diesel engine. This new variant has a power ranging from 110 hp to 130 hp with petrol and diesel engines, and with the plug-in hybrid system, the power goes up to a whopping 225 hp to ensure a superior driving performance. The petrol and diesel variants of sixth-generation Astra have a standard six-speed gearbox transmission, but the plug-in hybrids will come with eight-speed automatic transmission. However, this option is also available for more expensive petrol and diesel variants.
The Interior and Comfort of the car
The moment you open the door of the all-new Astra 2022, the first thing that will attract your attention will be the fantastic new panel. Opel has gone a step further than before by offering a seamless glass execution to the two ten-inch widescreen display. The new steering wheel adds a really high-quality look to the interior and echoes the Vizor. The wonderful new seats in Astra provide a world-class comfort level to the user along with a generous seating space. The front seats of Astra are mounted a little lower than the previous variant to ensuring a good posture. The front seats also offer a wide range of options: electric tilt, electro-pneumatic lumbar support, ventilation, and heater.
Specifications
Astra 2022 is being launched in two plug-in hybrid variants. The highest possible torque for both plug-in hybrids is 360 Newton meters. The 180 hp variant Astra accelerates from 0 to 100 in 7.9 seconds, whereas the 225 hp is approximately two-tenths of a second faster. This new variant has a 12.4 kilowatt-hours battery that is enough for a purely electric drive under the range of 60 km.

Infotainment and Connectivity
Astra 2022 has two ten-inch widescreen displays, one of which acts as an infotainment system.
