What’s New for Nissan Terra 2022?
Mechanically the new Terra is the same as previous generation with only one engine option. It’s still a ladder frame SUV with a multi-link rear suspension. One of the prominent changes in the exterior of new Nissan Terra 2022 is the new V-motion grille that is now larger and more upright. Along with the grille the C-shaped LED signature headlamps have been replaced with latest quad LEDs increasing the overall brightness by 34 percent. Nissan Terra 2022 looks classier than before, taking some cues from yet to be updated Patrol from other countries as well as models that aren’t available locally like the Nissan Pathfinder. The new Terra ties in with the rest of the lineup, and Nissan did a very good job of making its midsize SUV look markedly different compared to its predecessor. We’re also expecting a new set of two-tone wheels finished in silver and black.
The side, on the other hand, has subtle revisions. There are some noticeable changes including the new step boards, 18-inch alloy wheels, and the faux air intake found on the front quarter panel. The rear of this new variant is also redesigned featuring new widened LED tail lamps. Rear bumper is now sportier than ever with a chrome accent at the center.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
All variants of Terra come with the 2.5-liter turbodiesel engine that has been around for a while in many models. This engine configuration provides the power of 190 hp at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm torque at 2000 rpm. The engine is coupled to either 6-speed manual or to 7-speed automatic transmission. The 4×4 variant of Terra has a rotary switch that allows the user to shift between 2WD to 4WD. The drive of Nissan is different now despite of having the same engine as the previous model. The maneuverability has improved with the use of Quick Steering Gear Ratio. Disc brakes are installed at the back and a rear differential lock for higher-end models.
The new Nissan Terra comes in the following four variants:
- Nissan Terra EL 4×2 MT
- Nissan Terra VE 4×2 AT
- Nissan Terra VL 4×2 AT
- Nissan Terra VL 4×4 AT
The Interior and Comfort of the car
The 2022 Terra now comes with its own cabin design. There are new aircon vents, a flat-bottom leather steering wheel, a revised center stack with a bigger touchscreen infotainment system and automatic climate control panel, as well as a new gear selector. Meanwhile, the two-tone leather upholstery gives the Terra a more upscale look and feel. Depending on customer preference, the two-tone finish can come in either Black-Beige or Black-Burgundy Red. It appears that Nissan will also be giving consumers the option to get a colored interior apart from the standard black or chocolate brown that we’ve grown accustomed to. We could see a few more colors like beige and black, or even red. Even the dashboard and steering wheel got a refresh.
The new Terra has a spacious feature curated for passenger comfort. With the split-fold-sliding mechanism users can easily fold the seats in a quick and efficient manner. The third-row seats have adjustable rakes that adds in to the flexibility.
